The Third Sunday in Lent
7 March 2010
Dear Friends and Members of St. Matthew's,
Wednesday Evenings in Lent
Despite the snow, fourteen of us gathered at the Church this past Wednesday for Evening Prayer and a Potluck Supper. Russ Scott was snowed in so he will give his presentation on "The Road to Salvation" this coming Wednesday evening. We start at 6:00 p.m. with Evening Prayer, then Potluck, and followed by the presentation. Our theme for Lent is "Sanctification through following the Way." The first Christians were called "Followers of the Way."

Passover Seder Supper, Wednesday, March 31
Jan Scott & Marlene Loomis will be presenting us with a genuine Jewish Passover Seder Supper on Holy Wednesday, March 31, as part of our Holy Week activities. This is a unique opportunity for all of us to experience what a Passover Supper is. It figures so importantly in the Gospels and was something Our Lord Jesus experienced every year of His life. There will be a sign-up sheet for this event in the Parish Hall. Jan says she needs some helpers so let her know this Sunday.
Keep Alma Lambert in your prayers this coming week as she will be undergoing some serious surgery.
I am checking with my grandson, Kris, to see how long it takes for packages to get to the troops in Afghanistan. I still have one soldier left from one of our other Churches.
Church growth (evangelism) is everybody's job - not just the clergy's. All of you know someone who is not going to Church, has never gone to Church or is unhappy with their current Church because of the revisionist theology that is spreading throughout some of the mainline Churches. Pray for them. Invite them to come to St. Matthew's. If they ask what kind of a Church St. Matthew's is, take one of the Sunday bulletins and show them our axioms of belief page. Just say to them, "Come and see" which is what Phillip said to Nathaniel (Gospel of John, Chapter 1, verse 46).
Be at St. Matthew's this Sunday. I will see you then.
Fr. John
