St. Matthews Anglican Church
Axioms of Faith
We are a Parish Church of the Anglican Province of America,
dedicated to the doctrine, discipline and worship of traditional Anglicanism.

Our Faith is founded on these axioms of Christianity:
1. We believe and confess that Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father but by Him.
2. “One Canon (one Bible), two Testaments, three Creeds, four General Councils, five centuries and the series of Fathers in that period determine the boundries of our faith.” Bishop Lancelot Andrews (1555-1626).
3. Holy Scripture as interpreted by Tradition and understood by Reason contain all things necessary for Salvation and Christian living.
4. The Book of Common Prayer (1928) and its predecessors back to the 1549 Book of Common Prayer of Archbishop Cranmer.
5. Thirty-Nine Articles as established by the Episcopal Church in 1801 and found at the end of the Book of Common Prayer.
6. An ordained ministry of Deacons, Priests and Bishops in Apostolic Succession and faithful to Apostolic teaching of that Faith once delivered to the Apostles by Christ Jesus.
7. A Church that lives the Great Commandment: Jesus said, “Thou shalt love the Lord Thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment (Deut. 6:5), and the second is like unto it: Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself (Lev. 19:18). On these two commandments hang all the Law and Prophets.” Matt. 22:37-40.
8. A Church that is committed to the Great Commission: Jesus said, “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Matt. 28:19-20.
